Apple set a new record when they sold over 5 million iPhone 5’s in three days.  With an abundance of higher spec’d handsets available, it’s clear that specifications (alone) aren’t the answer to capture market share. 

Our bet is on convergence.

One example is Windows Phone 8.  It may not sound like a big deal, but it is.  Imagine this: You’re out socialising when you receive an urgent work call to update an important contract.  You access the file via the cloud, check some info on your internal company wiki, update changes, save and email - all from your handset. 

Whilst we’ve already made this a working reality for many of our clients, the release of Windows Phone 8 will improve the interface, simplify the requirements and increase reliability as a result. 

Making it easier to access anywhere, anytime from your device will be a game changer.  How much is the only question!

Federal Attorney-General Nicola Roxon prepares to introduce amendments to the Privacy Act 1988 in Parliament.  Whilst the final proposals have not yet been made public, one of the amendments would involve "the tightening of the rules on sending personal information outside Australia".

Sharepoint is a web based collaboration tool that properly implemented can deliver real business benefits.  Practical examples include: implementation of workflow (giving clarity of required tasks, resource allocation and order), document management (version control, approval), information sharing (sales, inventory, returns, complaints etc) etc.  Sharepoint is a prime example where real business benefits can be delivered through IT solutions.  The Cavalry have been offering Sharepoint since it's inception.  We are pleased to deliver this through the cloud as it provides customers reduced deployment and management costs.

We're pleased to say that we made the CRN Fast 50 list!  That's right, The Cavalry are one of the Top 50 fastest revenue companies in Australia.  The Cavalry grew across all divisions - Cloud, Private Networks, Managed Services, Consulting, Voice and Product.  Last year also saw further developments to our online service portal 'CAV Desk', cloud infrastructure, server reporting and monitoring.  A fantastic acheivement that we're all proud of.  It shows that you (our customers), love us enough to stay with us and refer us on.  Here's to the future!

The CRN track the fastest 50 revenue growing IT companies each year. The Fast 50 list recognises the IT businesses who have shown themselves to be the best at understanding their customers’ businesses, aligning those businesses with the latest and best technologies and doing it faster and more efficiently than the rest of the pack. The Cavalry are on track to make this list with an outstanding 50% year on year growth for FY10/11. Results will be revealed on October 27 - stay tuned!

The Cavalry are finalists for the "SMB IT Partner of the Year" award. The panel of 60 judges is made up of 20 representatives from vendors, 20 from distribution partners and 20 from reseller companies. All will be revealed at the upcomming ARN IT Industry Awards night on September 22nd at the Hilton Hotel Sydney. The Cavalry have demonstrated: - Strong leadership and growth in cloud solutions. - Strong leadership and growth in private networks. - Demonstrable results in innovative and high end projects. - Ability to build IT solutions to drive business outcomes.

On Sunday 28th August, members from The Cav lined up at the start line at the 13km Pub2Pub fun run (www.pub2pub.com.au) for our annual fundraising event. A great day had by all with over $4,000 raised for ISF (http://www.indochinastarfish.org/blog/2011/09/05/here-comes-the-cavalry-aug-2011/). Derek was the fastest CAV member with a scorching time of 1hr 2mins finising 210 of more than 5000 people!
